A viking funeral, December 29, 2009 By = Durability:

= Educational: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: 37" Speed X-Cyclone 1/16 RC Racing Boat R/C Radio Remote Controlled NQD Craft (Toy) I bought this boat to replace another one that had broken. It worked fine, however it did not come close to reaching 30 miles an hour, and the battery lasted about 10 to 15 minutes under normal operating conditions. If you are going to buy this boat, I reccomend having the battery re-built at a battery store. I had them rebuild it using NiMh cells and afterwards, the boat ran for about 30 minutes instead of 10. (however, I beleive this voids the warranty)
After about a month, one of the motors started working intermediatly, and now one motor works and the other one is busted, so the boat just goes in circles. After all the work I have put in to this thing, I'm starting to realize I should have bought something nicer. I'm either going to replace the motor, or give it a viking funeral in my swimming pool.

I rand the boat on calm water close to the shore and with charged batteries. It barely went 10mph. My son is very disappointed, but he does like the durability and looks of it. It can handle ruff water with ease. I may see if there is a way to upgrade the engines. I would be happy if I could get it close to 20mph.

It will benefit any skipper when they have to dock a large boat without using a rudder,(twin engine boats are docked without the use of the rudder all the time.) Is really cool in a pool as it doesn't mark up the sides of the pool and just bounces off the walls. But you have to careful not to touch the stern of the boat when it is turned on as the props will cut you quickly. The radio is a little too simple, but it does the job. The on/off switch is little dodgey and likes to stay on at times. It must be checked before you take the boat off the cradle or out of the water as any touch could result in spinning props. Teaches care and forethought. Overall worth every penny!
PS Take the prop shafts out and pack the tubes with teflon packing grease. While your at it place a small amount of teflon grease in the u-joints at the motor end of the shafts. You will have no water leaks into the boat... Read more
