A One-Use Wonder, October 26, 2010 = Durability:

Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: RC Pirate Ship R/C Pirates of the Caribbean Boat Radio Remote Control Yacht Cruiser (Toy) I bought two of these with visiting grandchildren in mind. Shipment was prompt and the boxes were undamaged on arrival. Getting the boats ready for water was simple: charge the batteries, connect them, put them in their bottom-of-the-hull compartment, and use a philips-head screwdriver to fasten the hull seal in place. Then test to see if the engines responded to the simple RC controls.
All that went well, although I worried about having the batteries accessed through a panel in the bottom of the boat, a panel that might not seal.
As it turned out, the problem is elsewhere. Both boats worked nicely at the beginning of their first "sea trial" in our pool. But after about 15 minutes the motors on one stopped. We assumed the batteries had died, in spite of the fact that the other boat was running fine and had been charged for the same time.
I put the boats away and did not use them for a week. When I took them out again, the boat whose engines had stopped... Read more

Complete Junk, January 13, 2011 By = Durability:

Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: RC Pirate Ship R/C Pirates of the Caribbean Boat Radio Remote Control Yacht Cruiser (Toy) This product is complete junk. I bought it for my 5 year old son as his Santa Claus present. We disposed of the packaging (didn't want it to be discovered by the little guy). We took the boat out the following day. Immediately the antenna on the controler broke off, the boat was uncontrolable for the two minutes that it actually had power. Within minutes the boat became water logged and completely stopped working! Unfortunately, I cant return the boat because I destroyed the packaging.
The issue with the boat wasn't due to a young child using it. Dad did the handling of the boat.
I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone!

Poor Quality Control, August 6, 2010 By = Durability:

Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: RC Pirate Ship R/C Pirates of the Caribbean Boat Radio Remote Control Yacht Cruiser (Toy) FMT toys service was superb. However the ship leaked. There were several holes drilled in the keel to accept the stand. Unfortunately the holes were drilled all the way through the keel admitting water. I sealed the holes but the ship still leaked where the upper hull joined the lower. More sealing was required. After an hour or so experimenting to seal all the leaks, the ship was ready to go. My son-in-law and grandchildren had a good time with it in the pool. Let the buyer beware, mine leaked. Check yours carefully, if it sinks the motors will probably be toast.
