The first thing I will say to anyone looking to get one is to please read up on proper break-in and tuning as you will save yourself a lot of headaches. You will also need to buy a simple Nitro starter kit, an extra glow plug or two, and some fuel(best is 16% for this engine).
As my title says, you can't beat this price for an entry level device. Honestly, I wouldn't want to learn everything I have learned so far on a several hundred plus dollar machine. Once tuned and broke in these are amazingly fast for someone new. I have put it through the paces every day since I bought it and it is still running like a champ. It has took some extremely hard spills too, but knowing that would happen I have chose to leave the body off for now. Good thing too, or it would be in pieces.
The factory settings for the carb are:
Low speed needle: Flush with the collar

must read!!!, March 3, 2013 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: 1/10 2.4Ghz Exceed RC Hyper Speed Beginner Version .16 Engine Nitro Powered Off Road Buggy Fire Black ***STARTER KIT REQUIRED*** (Toy) this is nice for the price i gess. but it brakes in bad ways. it brakes in the hard to fix places, and the ones that shouldnt brake. ive had mine for less than a week and is sending it back because it broke and you cant buy parts for it it at local hobby shops. exceed only sells stuff on amazon a another place or two, and it takes over a week for it to come in. so i would recamend spening $10-$20 more and buy a nicer one, thats what im doing. so over all this is not the best. oh... and parts of the frame are very flimsy if you hit it, like on the front suspention. im 14 and this was a lot of fun at fist, but not a good long term kind of thing.

I am only leaving this review for I had seen feedback from a customer who had had like experience with Hero RC. After following the start up procedures apparently the engine had too much compression for it blew a hole through the piston. I ad contacted Hero RC back and Dec and still have yet to get a response.
I do not believe my issue is a reflection of Excced RC who make the buggy I just believe it was an isolated issue and had I purchased the buggy from a reputable hobby shop my issue would have been resolved. So my $127 buggy turned out to be $212 after the purchase of a .15 Traxx engine.
Again this buggy is great and has kissed my mail box pole plenty of times and is still going strong. I would recommend the Exceed Hyper Speed buggy to anyone who wants to participate in the sport of nitro RC vehicles but doesn't want to spend a fortune to be involved!
