This review is from: HiTec 44167 X4 AC Plus 4-Port AC/DC Multi-Charger (Toy) I have been a serious R/C guy since the mid 80's. I have had literally dozens of chargers, going back to the old NiCd days through NiMH and on into today's LiPo's and LiFe batteries. I have many LiPo and NiMH batteries for all of my cars, including receiver and transmitter packs, and I have no idea how I ever got along without this charger! The ability to charge 4 batteries at the same time is now indispensable to me. Not only can I charge multiple packs, but I can charge 4 different chemistries at the same time, too. Last night, I charged two 2S LiPo's, one NiMH receiver pack and one LiFe transmitter pack...all at the same time! The time savings is priceless to me. If you are a casual R/C'er, with one or two battery packs, then this is overkill for you. However, if you are anywhere near the situation I am in, this charger is worth every penny!
If you do go the X4 route, be prepared to get extra balancing board, as it comes with only one of each style. I had to... Read more

Slow for high-capacity LiPos ..., October 14, 2012 By This review is from: HiTec 44167 X4 AC Plus 4-Port AC/DC Multi-Charger (Toy) I agree with all the positive comments about this charger that everyone has made. It's a very solid charger and does a fantastic job of getting all of my batteries ready for a day of running my RCs.
However, as my collection has grown to include 1/10 and 1/8 vehicles that have 5000+mAH batteries, this charger's limitations are becoming apparent. The charger is capable of a maximum of 50W per channel. This means that for a 2S, 5000mAH battery, you won't be able to charge beyond 6A. That's about 1.2C ... most modern LiPos can charge at, at least, 2C - with the high-end batteries taking up to an 8C charge. Remember, 1C is the rate required to fully charge the battery in an hour. That means a full hour for a 2S, 5000mAH battery. For a 3S battery, it's even more dramatic. At 11.1V, you hit 50W at 4.5A. So, a 3S 5000mAH will take more than an hour to charge. This isn't the end of the world and, if you don't mind waiting, this charger works perfectly. This is the only charger that... Read more

This review is from: HiTec 44167 X4 AC Plus 4-Port AC/DC Multi-Charger (Toy) I've had this charger for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it! The only thing that would make it better would be if they included at least two sets of each cable, and as per the other review at least two hx balance boards. Other than that it's a must have charger for people serious about the hobby!
