Most of the ones I have purchased in this price range barely move on carpet and don't steer well on carpet. Most do ok on a laminate floor.
This Imex Truggy is nothing like the ones I've purchased in the past. The box says it will do twenty MPH. This thing super fast turns well on carpet and laminate floor alike. We haven't taken it outside because of the 14 inches of snow.
It has 5 or 6 gears or speeds. They can be selected in manual mode or automatic. in Automatic the Truggy is very fast. Too fast for indoor use even on carpet. In manual mode one can select a speed that is suitable for indoor use. It comes with a USB charger for the car. The car can also charge off the remote control. Either way charging takes a while but the car does run for while. I don't think the ratio of charging to playing is to far out of wack.
