Metal helicopter needs metal landing skids, April 21, 2011 By = Durability:
= Fun:
= Educational:
This review is from: Yiboo 4703 Mini Metal Gyroscope 3.5 Channel Infrared RC Helicopter Red My son and I purchased a UJ4703 from a mall kiosk today. I like how rock-steady the gyro-whirlygig keeps the helicopter. We had a fun few minutes flying it before realizing we didn't charge the battery enough. Looking forward to flying it a lot more tomorrow evening, when we should be able to get maximum climb & forward/backward performance out of it. The remote-control headlight is clever. I think that after a few days we'll be good enough to fly it in the house. We also like the flexibility of charging from the controller or from a USB port.
Potential buyers should be aware of two things:
- The IR control will be very glitchy in sunlight, so the aircraft can only be flown indoors or at dusk.
- The plastic legs of the landing skids are flimsy. I am getting ready to glue the right skid back on the aircraft for the third time today.

Just Bought, Fun Fun!, December 28, 2011 By = Durability:

This review is from: Yiboo 4703 Mini Metal Gyroscope 3.5 Channel Infrared RC Helicopter Red I have recently purchased this unit at a Kiosk in a mall on 12/26. Talked the guy down to $35, :), told him that Amazon has them cheaper than the $40 he was offering ;-). Anyway, the fun factor is great, but seeing new models coming out that have rocket launchers makes this one look like no fun. When reading the instructions it said to turn the unit off before charging, but it never charged, unless I turned the unit on, then it charged. I have charged it 3 times so far, no problems with that. I wish the battery could last longer or if there is a way to purchase a bigger battery; that would be nice. Durability wise, I have had no problems. I let my wife try flying it, and she pretty much ran into every hard surface in the house, LOL. Thought the plastic blades would be the first to go since they are the ones that hit everything first, but the plastic is bendable and not a hard plastic. I want to get rid of the flashing leds in the front hoping that may extend battery life a... Read more
