RC Helicopters ... Comments in General & MY 9101 surprise!, November 13, 2011 By = Durability:

Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Co-axial Remote Control Rc Helicopter w/ Built in Gyro (colors may vary) I purchased the 9101 believing the stated size of 28 inches. Imagine my surprise when I measured it from the tip of lower fan to the tip of the tail fan and found it to be 31 inches.
I have had much fun with this heli so far, but new buyers should be aware that these things are NOT as easy to fly as one MIGHT think. They take a LOT of practice according to EXPERIENCED flyers that I have communicated with regarding this. Be aware that THAT practice IS GOING to result in crashes that will cost you $$money$$ to repair. Just be aware that the initial purchase cost is NOT the last dollar you are going to spend on your heli. Look into prices for spare parts, as you WILL NEED them!
I think that before buying, one should pay close attention to forums of experienced flyers (xheli.com has a nice forum) and their advice. You ARE GOING TO CRASH your heli learning to fly it. Fact of nature so to speak. My last crash caused me to order parts that, along with shipping, cost... Read more

Excellent Beginner, June 19, 2011 = Durability:

Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Co-axial Remote Control Rc Helicopter w/ Built in Gyro (colors may vary) Okay..... well I am an experienced pilot and I fly Walkera flybarless heli's. Flying flybarless are fun to watch being flown in the house and when they crash it's heart breaking. I have spent well over 600.00 in replacement parts over my career just for one heli alone. Yes I could have purchased a dozen of the coaxials but I am stubborn. This Double Horse in my opinion is fun to fly in the house and crash after crash it still flies sound without waiting for replacement parts. Warning to buyers; You should fly coaxial helis like this one before you even consider a flybarless or more advanced heli. Recommendations: buy extra batteries for chopper and blades. Other than that it should handle well for the beginner. If you crash make sure you stop the rotors from turning to avoid damage. This goes for all heli's. Hope this helps you on your decision. Thx, Teddy

DH 9053 and DH 9101, May 17, 2011 By NJEMT (New Jersey) - See all my reviews = Durability:

This review is from: Co-axial Remote Control Rc Helicopter w/ Built in Gyro (colors may vary) Double Horse Big Size 3 Channel RC Helicopter DH 9101 and Double Horse 9053 26 Inches 3.5 Channel Outdoor Metal Gyro RC Helicopter ---NEW!
I own both the DH 9053 and the DH 9101. A lot of their parts on both are interchangeable, but not all. Their flight and control characteristics are very similar. In particular, when flown outside, the slightest wind will either tip them over or cause the balance bar to hit the upper blades and cause them to crash.
Having said the previous, I find them fun and entertaining to fly in a large, open indoor area. You have to be able to predict how these helicopters behave in different situations (on the ground, near objects, etc.) and stay one step ahead on the RC, otherwise, they will likely crash.
Speaking of crashes, be prepared to buy replacement parts when a crash... Read more
