The first one only worked for a little while (minutes) and new batteries did not help. My wife took it back and tried them out in the store. It took three in store to find one that worked properly at all. Once we got it home, again, it stopped working shortly thereafter. We tried once more, but she could not find anymore in the store that worked after trying several. My 5 year daughter wanted this as her number 1 toy at Christmas. She was disappointed. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful  Defective Product, January 6, 2012 = Durability: = Fun: = Educational: This review is from: Elenco Radio Controlled Black Widow (Toy) Everything was as expected as I'd hoped until the batteries were inserted. Smoke immediately began to rise from the battery compartment once the fourth AA was installed. Initially I thought I may have done something wrong. I reassessed and retried and it occurred during two more subsequent attempts. The product seemed to work but the smoke and heat were definitely stopping from a thorough trial. It was a gift, and the recipient would like the same one after being offered any alternative. I will have to update once I get the second one.
