Fast Fun Affordable 1/8th scale truggy!, February 12, 2013 This review is from: HPI Racing 107018 Trophy Truggy Flux RTR (Toy) My brother and I both each bought this truggy to bash on the weekends . After researching on the net we found this was the best bang for the buck.
The trophy truggy is ready to run out of the box and will run up to 45 mph which is fast enough for us and it does not cost $750 like some other 1/8th scale truggies.
You will need to purchase two 2S lipo batteries to run his truggy. We purchased GensAce 5000mah 40c 2s and boy will his thing fly!
You will Also need a lipo charger for your batteries. I picked up the Duratrax Onyx 245 off of amazon because it's simple and easy to use.
Whenever you unbox the truggy make sure and loctite the wheel nuts as they may come off otherwise.
The first problem I had on my truggy was the pinion gear was not tapped all the way for the grub screw to seat properly on the motor shaft. Therefore I recommend removing the pinion gear and making sure the grub screw will thread deep enough to seat on the... Read more
Not typical HPI quality, March 12, 2013 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: HPI Racing 107018 Trophy Truggy Flux RTR (Toy) This is my 4th HPI product, although all the others are Nitro powered. The look of the Truggy is great! It is simple and easy to run and it runs fast. 15 mins after running (not thrashing, just normal driving up and down a paved road) when I went to take a turn, the truggy broke. The front axle snapped right in two. I found a local hobby shop that had the parts (came only in sets of 2) for $60.00. After repairing the break and running again, the whole right front wheel fell off because yet another part was broken. Sadly, these parts are on back order in both of my local hobby shops. I contacted HPI and they offered to send me the parts in 3 business days. I waited a week and called back since I had not gotten the parts. They then told me that they were on back order there too and that I would have to call back a week later and see if the parts were available. I can not believe that this truggy did not hold up any better than this. I have only gotten to drive it 5 times. Never jumped... Read more
