The weight comes from adding LEDs on each boom and a 600MAh battery. The remote on the beginner setting is still way more responsive than others. If you are a first time flyer, take it outside on a calm day in a really big grassy area. If you have more experience, you'll appreciate the night flying option, courtesy of the LEDs. The front boom LEDs flash red and blue, while the rear boom LEDs are solid white. This makes keeping your orientation straight in the dark a simple matter. The description indicates a longer RF range than some of the other offerings. I will test that soon. So it was to windy to fly the day I recieved it, but calmed down when it got dark. I took it out and man this thing is stable, I was flying all around the neighborhood, the lights sre solid white on back, flashing color on front and I could see easy at about 100-150 yrds. The battery lasted about 20min, very impressed.
