CB100 Great Entry Level Hobby Grade Heli, April 10, 2012 = Durability:
= Fun: = Educational: This review is from: Walkera CB100 Micro RC Helicopter 4 Channel Heli Gift (Toy) A quick note in defense of this very popular heli. Its small and inexpensive, but not a toy like the little 3 channel Symas and similar. If you think you might want to really learn to fly RC helis, beyond the simple coaxials, the 4 channel, fixed pitch, CB100 is a good place to start. Parts are readily available and there is a huge knowledge base on the enthusiast forums. It has some known weaknesses (fragile tail boom, for instance) that are easily fixed, but it is a great flyer. There are some newer little FP helis out there now with more plastic parts (i.e. less fragile) and some even flybarless, but if you find a good price on the CB100 don't be afraid to grab one - you may find yourself hooked on a great hobby.

= Fun: = Educational: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Walkera CB100 Micro RC Helicopter 4 Channel Heli Gift (Toy) I purchased this wanting a step up to a "real" helicopter after having a ton of fun with the Syma S107/S107G, looking at other reviews and videos it seemed like it was pretty stable and that with a little practice, I could fly it easily.
How wrong I was.
First and foremost, after opening the package it was pretty poorly made. The motors and CNC machined blade head was very nice, but that was about all that was. The rest of the thing is made of incredibly brittle plastic. There is nothing really holding the battery in place, and the legs of the landing booms are tiny and don't seem very durable at all.
When I first tried to fly it the real big problems with the copter appear. The tail rotor takes a second or two to kick in, and sometimes doesn't kick in properly at all, and the whole helicopter just seems incredibly unstable in flight. Trim didn't actually trim, controls seemed very sluggish and non-responsive. This thing is an absolute nightmare to fly... Read more
